An altar is an inspiring space for your rituals; meditation, yoga, prayer, a place to reflect on what's meaningful in your life, and a place to connect with your spiritual practice. Having a designated sacred altar space in your home allows you express the very human need for ongoing spiritual nourishment.
Your sacred space can include whatever holds a special meaning to you. It may take some time to find and collect pieces that feel sacred or spiritual to you, but you can always start with what you have. Begin creating your altar space by finding materials in your home or dispersed on the earth nearby that represent the four elementals.

To get your home altar space started, I'd recommend finding an item that represents each of the elements listed below to place on your altar to create balance. Your altar items can always be changed or rotated with the seasons, to further connect with the cycles of the earth.
